By Robert LevineOnce again it’s Labor Day weekend! How did it get here so quickly? It seems like we just opened our house in April. Let’s take advantage of this long weekend and enjoy all the many options we have offered to us in the months of September and October.Where were you at the time of the Total Eclipse? If you were watching TV, you would have seen local weatherman Sam Champion, who lived in the Pines until just a few years ago.Congratulations to Pines resident, Jeff Mahshie. He is the costume designer for the Broadway show starring Michael Moore “The Terms of My Surrender” at the Belasco Theatre.Celebrity sightings in the Pines: Andy Cohen vacationing in an oceanfront home. He walked with his houseguest Sarah Jessica Parker to the harbor and was greeted by the tea dance crowd at the Botel.Congratulations to Henry Robin and Bob McGerity for hosting a successful fundraiser luncheon for Brookhaven Town Councilman Neil Foley. Roy Yaeger and Sumner Freeman went off the island for the day to have lunch with friends in Water Mill. They were carrying a beautiful bouquet of flowers and apples, which came from their exotic garden.Walking through town were Hal Hayes, Michael Cluer and Shequida (Gary Hall).Frequent houseguests Rik Morris and Jim Kelleher are back in the Pines with their host Mark Ricigliano.Bobjack Callejo returned to the Pines after a long absence and was with his friend Robert Locke. They were guests of Bill Matthews and Michael DeFalco, as was Scott Ullrich.Lila Swell had a dinner party with Edrie Ferdun and Jan Felshin, guests from Cherry Grove.

Eleven talented singers, with many familiar faces from the Pines, will perform in this Broadway production. Stephen Alan Black, Matthew Christian, Katie Emerson, Ben Houghton, Nicole LaFountaine, Mary Kate Moore, Cynthia Murray-Davis, Skie Ocasio, Jeff Ostermueller, Alanna Saunders, and Lisa Zinn. Directed by Glen Wielgus with musical direction by Sean Peter Forte. Performances are Tickets in the Harbor or at fipap.org.Sept. 3, from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. The Pines Conservation Society will be honoring their Vice President Tony La Rocco for 38 years of devoted service. A brunch and silent auction will be held at The Pines Club, 236 Bay Walk, catered by Billy Carrol. This is a fundraiser for The Pines Conservation Society. Ticket price includes brunch, bar and auction. Tickets are available at the Harbor or squareup.com. Tony and his husband Bill Moore are leaving the Pines after for 41 years for Tony, and 17 years for Bill. Let’s send them off with style!Sept. 3, from 12:15 -3:15 p.m. Have brunch or lunch at the Blue Whale, featuring John Putnam and his Used Blues Trio.Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. FIPAP welcomes legendary fashion model from the 1970s, Pat Cleveland. She will be at a Fashion of the Pines Boardwalk Talk, 144 Ocean Walk, Hosted by Fashion Critic Hal Rubinstein. Cocktail hour at 2 p.m. and talk at 3 p.m., Tickets at the Harbor or pineshistory.org.Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. Andrew Kirtzman will host a party celebrating the 10th anniversary of Madison in the Pines. A cocktail reception will begin at 2 p.m., with a show at 3 p.m. Christine Pedi will host this event. Other celebrity guests will be announced shortly. See posters in town.Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. Dogs on the Catwalk is a fashion show at Carlyle on the Green, Bethpage State Park. This is a Guide Dog Foundation event featuring Master Pet Couturier Anthony Rubio, who has appeared many times on NBC’s “Today Show.” This organization raises guide dogs, and was established in 1946. Visit guidedog.org to learn more.The High Holidays are upon us soon. Congregation B’Nai Olam, founded by Alan Masur in 1973, will once again have services at Whyte Hall. Rosh Hashanah services on Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. and Sept. 21, 10:30 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. Yom Kippur: Sept. 29, at 8 p.m. and Sept. 30, 10:30 a.m.,; Yizkor service at 1 p.m. and closing services at 6:15 p.m.
