Saturday, October 18 Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest The Town of Islip Animal Shelter invites you and your furry friend to a Pet Halloween Costume Contest at the Islip Animal Shelter, 200 South Technology Drive, Central Islip, at 1 p.m. A $5 cash entry fee grants you access to the competition! Donate unused pet costumes to the shelter for the adorable shelter dogs to wear at the event! Please RSVP to animalshelter@Islipny.gov by October 15 to participate!

Get Scary as Halloween Approaches in October

Kismet Coffee, previously located next to Fire Island Vines in Bay Shore, has now opened a new, expanded location a few stores away at 45 W. Main St. The original Kismet Coffee opened as a coffee stand in 2022 by Jackson Davis in the namesake Fire Island community, where he grew up, by the Kismet ferry terminal. In 2024, they opened their kiosk inside Ocean Beach Trading.

Sunday, October 12 Fall Festival & Mourning at the Manor Reel in the fall with a day of activities at Sagtikos Manor, 677 West Montauk Highway, Bay Shore, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy craft demonstrators, sheep shearing, children’s activities, a puppet show, live music, and food vendors. Featured is Mourning at the Manor, a historic reenactment of a Victorian wake. Join in the reenactment of the funeral procession and meet some of the family spirits along the way! Admission: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $6 for children.

Town of Islip's Annual SeaFest was held at Bay Shore Marina, which was an ideal setting for Great South Bay area favorite, now in its seventh year. Festival attendees of all ages enjoyed food trucks, craft beer, pony rides, a petting zoo, beach games, and fun on the stunning Great South Bay, along with dozens of vendors selling handcrafted items and gifts. Live music from guest band J Haus kept the celebration lively, and visitors could dance the whole day without worries, as the Town offered free parking and admission.

Islip Town’s 7th Annual SeaFest Wraps Up the Summer

Everybody loves a feel-good success story about a local business. Along the Great South Bay of Long Island, that reigns even more true. Toasted Oysters, a local oyster farm operating from Islip, has been selected to showcase their authentic Blue Point oysters, which are grown right here on the South Shore of Long Island, at the 2025 Ryder Cup. The star-studded, highly anticipated golf match will be held at the Bethpage Black Golf Course in Farmingdale from September 23 to 28.
