Junior Lifeguards Develop Open Water Skills on Fire Island

In Atlantique, children between the ages of 8-16 years-old have been learning water safety, life saving techniques, and how to use rescue equipment in preparation for the New York State Level 1 Ocean Lifeguard Test.

The seven-week program includes how to identify dangerous water conditions, and introduces participants to the duties and responsibilities of an ocean lifeguard. Operated through Open Water Swim Long Island, the kids will be in fighting shape for water rescue and lifeguard tournaments in no time at all!
