With summer beach season officially here, the Northwell Health Immediate Care Centers in Ocean Beach, Cherry Grove and Saltaire locations are now open through Labor Day.
The conditions that can be treated at these locations include, but are not limited to:
· Minor injuries and burns;
· Sprains and strains;
· Allergic reactions;
· Mild asthma;
· Rashes and skin irritations, including poison oak, poison ivy and insect bites.
A Northwell Health medical professional will be available at each of these locations seven days a week: Monday-Thursday: 9-11 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.; Friday: 4-6 p.m.; and Saturday-Sunday: 9 a.m.-11 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.
If someone requires treatment outside of those hours or a higher level of care, patients can call emergency numbers and police will direct them to the appropriate medical care, including nearby South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore. Alternatively, patients can use Northwell’s ER on Demand program to receive a virtual exam, diagnosis and care navigation quickly and easily from the comfort of home.
“It has been so rewarding to hear stories of patients who have been cared for – from being patched up after a minor injury to literally lifesaving heart interventions – and knowing that those were made possible because of Northwell Health’s investment in these three immediate care centers along with the advanced medical practitioners who staff these each summer,” said Edward Fraser, MHA, vice president of community relations at Northwell Health and project manager of the Fire Island Immediate Care Centers. “We appreciate all of the support that has made these clinics possible and are pleased to be there for our patients and community members when they need us.”
This is Northwell’s 11th year offering medical care at Ocean Beach, 10th year at Cherry Grove and fourth year at Saltaire.
