“All is quiet on New Year’s Day,” as the famous U2 song goes, and on Fire Island this is most certainly true. However the people of Cherry Grove have started up a new annual tradition of a ball drop by the Doctors Walk overpass, and they did not let a little New Year’s Eve drizzle stop them! FIN photographer Mike Fisher caught the night’s festivities with his lens beautifully, and we think it rivals Times Square in its awesomeness. Should old acquaintance be forgot? We don’t think so – let’s honor and cherish the memories of loved ones past, but we firmly believe in the philosophy of “I will begin again.” Happy New Year everybody!
