Fire Island Food Drive at Woodhull School

As the holiday season approaches, students at Fire Island School District’s (FIUFSD) are learning about the importance of being mindful of all that we have and remembering that our neighbors are not always so fortunate.

For the next few months canned food, non-perishable and personal care and hygiene items are being collected for families of Woodhull School, year round residents of Fire Island, or others in need. Some families and individuals have already benefited from the generous donations made by those who are working directly with Fire Island Union Free School District Nurse Dana DeRuvo.

Fire Island residents are encouraged to participate in the collection effort. Donation boxes are available in the hallway by the District office. Gift cards to the local supermarkets, Stop & Shop and Shop Rite, are also being accepted.

Those interested in contributing food items, or know of someone in need, or is personally in need of support, please contact Nurse Dana by calling 631-583-5626. All calls and donations will be kept confidential.
