Kismet based photographer Beth Batkiewicz ambled over to Robert Moses Beach to capture the Polar Plunge in action on Saturday, January 7. Now in its sixth year, this annual event is sponsored jointly by Saltaire Ocean Rescue and Challenger Athletics – a not for profit organization with a mission to develop independence, confidence and self-esteem through socialization and non-competitive sports programs for individuals with physical and learning disabilities. Beth’s photos affirm that everyone had a great day. Even @tobaysandman got in on the festivities, making a sand sculpture perfect for the occasion. Nearly $5,000 was raised for Challenger Athletics through the plunge, and donations are still coming in. To learn more about what they do, visit https://www.challengerathletics.org/
