Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society: 14th Annual Art Show
By Kirsten CorssenThe Benefit Art Show sponsored by the Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society will be closing on Sunday, July 19. There is still time to pay a visit and view quality work by local Long Island talent. Both floors of the Keeper’s Quarters are utilized to exhibit the work on display. The main floor is dedicated to original paintings, like the large canvas of a Long Island surfer created by Anthony D’Avino, a personal favorite of this reporter.The top floor displays the photography, including the works of Chris Zec and Jeffrey Henson among others. The nautical theme is evident as you stroll between the two floors and view the more than 100 pieces of visual art.All works are for sale, and 30 percent of all proceeds help maintain the upkeep of Fire Island Lighthouse. Not all the artwork on display depicts the lighthouse, or Fire Island vistas, but then again the lighthouse itself is a symbol of Long Island culture in its totality. No matter what art style suits your personal tastes, there is something for everyone. This is an exhibit guaranteed to stimulate your imagination.
