In Ocean Beach, Richard Dziubia has been a fixture in Ocean Beach for quite some time. Even if you don’t know him, you probably do. Those very intricate chalk drawings that grace Cottage Walk from time to time? That’s Richard! However, his chalk creations are just one aspect of his work.

His whimsical acrylic paintings reflecting Fire Island life are on exhibit and available for purchase at Community Gardens Outdoor Living & Gift Center. His works depicting the bustling metropolis of New York City have the same vibrant color and keen sense of humor.
Dziubia is a native of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. He is a graduate of the New York School of Art & Design. He has designed packaging graphics for the likes of fashion mogul Diane von Furestenberg, and Evian Cosmetics.

When we saw this photo of Richard’s lanky figure drawing the American Bald Eagle on the cement walkway by the OBFD 9/11 Memorial, we knew we had found our cover for this special edition of Fire Island News.
