Town of Islip's Annual SeaFest was held at Bay Shore Marina, which was an ideal setting for Great South Bay area favorite, now in its seventh year. Festival attendees of all ages enjoyed food trucks, craft beer, pony rides, a petting zoo, beach games, and fun on the stunning Great South Bay, along with dozens of vendors selling handcrafted items and gifts. Live music from guest band J Haus kept the celebration lively, and visitors could dance the whole day without worries, as the Town offered free parking and admission.

Great South Bay Area Long Island Boater Groups are reporting accounts of multiple first responder units mobilizing to a capsized boat incident offshore of Fire Island inlet earlier today. Two individuals were pulled from the frigid water, but their chances of survival are uncertain at this time. An official police report was not released upon initial publication of this article. The Alzheimer’s Association will be hosting its signature fundraising event, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, in North Babylon next month. This year’s walk is one of several the organization will be hosting in the Long Island region and is scheduled for Sunday, October 19, with a 10 a.m. opening ceremony at Belmont Lake State Park. Participants will walk or run a two-mile course within the park.

Throughout Fire Island, on the morning of September 21, 1938, dozens of residents were enjoying the last days of the season and making preparations to winterize their homes. The Village of Saltaire had leveled the dunes months earlier to accommodate demand for a scenic ocean view for the summer guests. The dunes, which serve as barriers against storms, were overlooked due to the last significant hurricane season having occurred in 1893.
