Saturday, June 20 Bromley Caldari House Tour (1-4 p.m.) The Fire Island Pines Historical Society will host the Bromley Caldari House Tour on Saturday, June 20, from 1 to 4 p.m., offering a rare opportunity to step inside seven notable Fire Island Pines homes designed by renowned architects Scott Bromley and Jerry Caldari. Known for helping shape the distinctive architectural character of the Pines, Bromley Caldari’s work has influenced some of the community’s most recognizable modern homes. You’ll receive a map for a self-guided tour, and along the way, attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy a “Margarita from Hell” at 519 Porgie Walk. Tickets are $40 per person. This Father’s Day falls on the First Day of Summer. It’s been a few years since that last happened, and because this issue also coincides with the Juneteenth holiday, we pause to consider the convergence of these events. Fathers, because we all have one, and sometimes more. The role they play in our lives charts our course. Juneteenth, because freedom is essential for all of us to thrive. And the first day of summer, because our lives revolve around the sun, as these warmer days are always the brightest and most fleeting.

Even its brief use as a Suffolk County Police Department training ground could not keep trouble away. Now the embattled Idle Hour campus is on the market again.

But the lyrics also ring true. It is fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A., especially if you’re a college student in New York City (NYC) during the ‘80s, which is the case for Evan, the protagonist in Sloane by Kevin Banks.

The Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) will host its annual 5k walk and brain health festival on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The walk will take place at Marjorie Post Park, 451 Unqua Road, Massapequa, NY., from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. “This family-friendly event brings together individuals, caregivers, and supporters to raise awareness and critical funds for programs that support those impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias across Long Island,” said Lauren Vlachos, ADRC Executive Director. All are strongly encouraged to attend Long Island’s premier Alzheimer’s event to help raise awareness and support for local caregivers and those impacted by the disease.
