Saturday, September 12 (3 p.m.) 60th Annual Miss Fire Island Pageant The Ice Palace, 1 Main Walk, Cherry Grove, is thrilled to announce this year’s Miss Fire Island Pageant, featuring hosts Logan Hardcore, 2011 Miss Fire Island, and Ariel Sinclair, 2002 Miss Fire Island. This year’s theme, “There’s No Place Like Home,” is a subtle nod to the classic film The Wizard of Oz. A special All Stars category will feature past pageant winners. The Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) will host its annual 5k walk and brain health festival on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The walk will take place at Marjorie Post Park, 451 Unqua Road, Massapequa, NY., from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. “This family-friendly event brings together individuals, caregivers, and supporters to raise awareness and critical funds for programs that support those impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias across Long Island,” said Lauren Vlachos, ADRC Executive Director. All are strongly encouraged to attend Long Island’s premier Alzheimer’s event to help raise awareness and support for local caregivers and those impacted by the disease.

As the frozen tundra-like island finally thaws, it means the beginning of the crop season is about to begin. Farmers of both organic and traditional farms will rev up their tractors, plow their fields, and plant their seeds as the threat of a dreary winter’s last frost nears.
